Scottish accents can actually vary a good deal. Commonly Glasgow is considered one of the thickest accents in Scotland, while Edinburgh is perhaps the lightest - but the two are only about 50 miles apart! Very few people still speak the Scots language today, but it has definitely had a grrreat influence on the dialect!

Scottish Accent Learning Materials

  • The Scottish accent materials include recordings of AccentHelp coaches Jim Johnson guides you through learning the accent, along with a native Scottish woman reading through all of the practice words and sentences. Jim also leads you through applying the accent to a practice monologue, along with a version of the monologue from the native Scottish speaker.
  • You'll get over seven hours of recordings, including six volumes of native speakers, along with a PDF transcript of their conversations so that you can follow along as you listen. (You can view the complete listing by clicking on the icon to the left.)
